Assessment of Northern Ireland since the Good Friday Agreement
[ send me this essay ]
This is a 4 page paper assessing the Northern Ireland conflict since the implementation of the Good Friday Agreement. Since the Good Friday Agreement was implemented in Northern Ireland in 1998, the British and Irish Governments have been assessing the events and improvements which have occurred since that time. In addition to constitutional and government issues addressed in the Agreement, the implementation of the Agreement also led to equal rights and opportunities regardless of religious affiliation in the areas of employment, services, and education which increased community awareness and cooperation. The fact the Agreement also contained aspects of diminishing the British police presence in Northern Ireland and the release of political prisoners was also exceedingly well received. Within the last year however, certain components in regards to the implementation of the Agreement have stalled, such as the full development of a new police force and board, and people have been split along pro-Agreement and anti-Agreement lines.

Britain's Resistance To The Euro
[ send me this essay ]
7 pages in length. Nearly one thousand years of monetary consistency is a long time for any currency to exist, which is why Britain is so resistant to accepting the new and unifying aspect of the European Euro expected to take hold and challenge even the most secure of global currencies, including the American dollar. After World War II, nearly every global currency felt the detrimental impact of postwar attempts to once again bolster the world's economy, with the Bretton Woods system at the forefront of this most difficult time. Now that the Euro is destined to become the primary standard of European currency, Britain continues to stand firm upon its conviction that it will not surrender the pound sterling for another monetary system it deems as a very real concern to British strength; however, speculation contends that Britain's political and economic influence throughout Europe will remain peripheral if it remains outside the Euro.
