Resource Wars: War Over Caspian Oil and Other Reserves
[ send me this essay ]
If the U.S. were to lose control of the world’s resources, the country would come to a very quick stop and lose all rights to the world supremacy it currently enjoys. To prevent the end of God’s country, the George W. Bush Administration has proclaimed war against an “axis of evil” that has to do with any country or leader that prevents the U.S. from this goal. To win, as defined by the United States government, means controlling world oil, water and mineral resources. The axis of evil identified by Bush incorporate the non-participating countries in the Persian Gulf, Caspian Sea, and South China Sea that now harbor most of the world’s resources. These countries will not be allowed to prevent the U.S. from remaining the world’s most powerful nation in terms of resources, no matter the cost. Specific arguement based on Michael Klare's Resource Wars. 2 works cited. jvCspoil.rtf

Root Cause of Problems in the Middle East
[ send me this essay ]
A 3 page research paper that argues that the root cause of problems in the Middle East is the continuing legacy of colonialism. Many members of the general public in Western countries are mystified by the problems originating in the Middle East and the threat of global terrorism. After the terrorist attacks on the US of September 11, 2001, President George W. Bush characterized the terrorists as hating liberty and American values. This is one of the views that has remained prominent as the root cause of problems of the Middle East, i.e., Islamic rigidity. Thus discussion of the root cause of conflicts in the Middle East will demonstrate that simply focusing on Islamic fundamentalism is too simplistic as this overlooks the impact of Western actions in the region and the continuing legacy of colonialism. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

Sahar Khalifeh’s “Wild Thorns”
[ send me this essay ]
This 5 page report discusses Sahar Khalifeh’s chronicle of life in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, “Wild Thorns,” which is actually more topical today than when it was first published in Arabic in 1976. The novel offers some startling and unsentimental portrayals of everyday life under occupation. The unspoken feelings of the characters in her novel are clearly being spoken now but they seem to be no better understood than they were 25 years ago. Bibliography lists only the primary source.

A 23 page paper presenting a case study of Saudi Arabia's Jarir Bookstore in the first part, followed by another section identifying several strategic issues that can be used as points for discussion of the case. Jarir Bookstore is Saudi Arabia's leading computer hardware and software retailer. Most companies find sweeping economic changes challenging enough, without also having to deal with changing social values. Jarir Bookstore's position is that it already has begun addressing both. It will need to develop a clear strategy for itself for the future, one that will be beneficial for the company's financial future as well as be acceptable to Saudi society.
