Comparisons of Plato and C.S. Lewis' Screwtape
[ send me this essay ]
A 6 page paper comparing the two works. C. S. Lewis is known for his Christian writing, both overt and more veiled forms. The Screwtape Letters most assuredly are the finest example of Lewis' overt Christian work in that Screwtape, demon supreme, writes letters of instruction to his nephew Wormwood, who is on assignment to gain a particular soul for satan's collection. Plato of course is pre-Christian, but he does give credence to the ancient Greek gods. While he grants gods at least part of their due, he is certain that responsibility for goodness and moral behavior is attributable to the worth of the individual, is determined by the individual without outside influence. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
