Four Approaches To Decision-Making
[ send me this essay ]
4 pages in length. Making a decision – whether that may be which flavor ice cream to eat, which car to buy or how best to fund one's retirement – are not reached through arbitrary means; rather, the extent to which certain models of decision-making are employed speak to an all-inclusive process that – even when applied subconsciously – reflects how different approaches work for different situations. Kettl and Fesler (2005), who discuss these models in the context of the administrative process, contend there are four distinct approaches where political decision-making is concerned: rational decision-making, bargaining, participative decision-making and public choice. France's Cohabitation System: Impact Upon The French Polity
[ send me this essay ]
15 pages in length. There can be little argument
surrounding the fact that cohabitation between French President Jacques Chirac and Prime Minster Lionel Jospin has experienced some rough patches; while both political representatives strive to maintain France's domestic policy for the benefit of all, the fact that each man's ideals sometimes originate from divergent domains often leads to disagreements of substantial proportion. Cohabitation between the French President and Prime Minister is a relatively new venture, having only been in existence since 1986. As the third period representatives, Chirac and Jospin have proven their prowess at keeping alive both the essence of cohabitation, as well as the political and personal struggles inherent to such a system. Francis Fukuyama - The End Of History
[ send me this essay ]
A 17 page paper that presents an outline and explanation of Fukuyama's thesis about the end of history and the last man. The essay "The End of History?" published in 1989 and the book, The End of History and the Last Man, published in 1992 are still being discussed and analyzed in today's literature. Fukuyama's works created a great deal of furor and criticism in some circles and were applauded in other circles. This paper reports the interpretations of these two works by numerous scholars and also presents the criticisms levied against the thesis by other scholars. The thesis is that liberal democracy has won as the preferred system; this was evidenced by the end of the Cold War and this constitutes the end of history. One question asked by a number of authors is whether Fukuyama means this is the end of history or the end of historical thinking? The thesis is much more complex than this statement would imply and the complexities are discussed and reflected upon. The writer includes their own reflections. Bibliography lists 21 sources.
